Thermostat Installation — Book a Visit Today

We install and replace thermostats, wire smart controls and set up zoning across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Most calls start the same way: the screen is blank, the room temperature reading is off by several degrees, or a new thermostat went on the wall and the heat runs but the AC does not. A visit begins with a look at the wiring at the thermostat and at the air handler, because many homes in your area are short a common wire or have a control board fuse that keeps blowing. We confirm what your system actually needs, then set the new control up, test both heating and cooling, and walk you through the schedule. Call us and tell us what the display is doing.

The thermostat installation symptoms we hear most

  • The thermostat screen is completely blank Dead batteries, blown low-voltage fuse on the control board or a tripped breaker
  • My new smart thermostat keeps losing power or restarting Missing common wire, so the thermostat is stealing power from the control circuit
  • It says 72 but the room feels like 80 Failed temperature sensor, thermostat mounted on a hot wall or bad placement near a supply vent
  • Heating works but the AC never kicks on after the swap Wires landed on the wrong terminals or a heat pump set up as a conventional system
  • Upstairs cooks while downstairs freezes Single thermostat controlling a two-story load, a candidate for zoning controls and dampers

Whether you call it thermostat installation or thermostat replacement, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Change the thermostat batteries if it takes them, then see if the display comes back.
  • 2Check the breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the air handler or outdoor unit and reset it once.
  • 3Put in a clean filter, since a clogged one can make the system short cycle and look like a thermostat fault.
  • 4Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.

Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Can I put a smart thermostat on any system?

Most systems accept one, but some need a common wire added and older heat pumps or multi-stage equipment need a compatible model. We check the wiring at the thermostat and the air handler first, then tell you what will work in your home.

How long does a thermostat replacement take?

A straight swap on existing wiring is usually short work. If we need to run a common wire, replace a blown control board fuse or reconfigure a heat pump, plan on longer. We confirm heating and cooling both cycle before we leave.

Why does my thermostat read the wrong temperature?

Placement is the usual culprit. A thermostat on an exterior wall, in direct sun or near a supply register reads the wall instead of the room. A failed internal sensor does the same thing. We can relocate or replace it.

What is zoning and do I need it?

Zoning uses dampers in the ductwork and more than one thermostat so upstairs and downstairs can call for air separately. It helps two-story homes where one floor never keeps up. We look at your duct layout before recommending it.

Should I replace the thermostat when I replace the system?

Usually yes. New equipment often uses staging or variable speed control the old thermostat cannot speak to, and a mismatched control leaves capacity on the table. We include the control in the plan so everything talks correctly.

My thermostat is blank after a storm. Is that the thermostat?

It might be, but it is often a tripped breaker or a blown low-voltage fuse caused by a surge or a flooded condensate switch. Check the breaker once, then call us so we can trace the low-voltage side properly.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
  • Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
  • We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
  • Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
