What a central AC installation involves
A central AC installation is a full day of work in most homes. We recover refrigerant from the old system, pull the condenser and indoor coil, and set the new equipment on a level pad or in the attic platform. Line sets are checked or replaced, the drain line is repiped and trapped correctly, and electrical whips and disconnects are brought up to what the new unit draws. Then we pull a vacuum, charge to the manufacturer's specification, and run the system while we watch temperature split and static pressure.
What we check and install
Before we quote anything we measure the house, not just the old nameplate. That means room sizes, window exposure, insulation depth in the attic, and the duct system itself. Undersized returns are common in homes built in the nineties, and a new system pushed through the same starved return will run hot and loud. We check plenum condition, supply runs, the condensate path, the float switch, and the thermostat wiring. If the ductwork needs work to carry the airflow, we tell you before installation day rather than after.
How we decide installation is the right call
We lean toward repair when the fix is a single part and the rest of the system is sound. Installation makes more sense when the compressor has failed, the coil is leaking in more than one spot, or the refrigerant type is obsolete and getting expensive to source. Age matters too. A system that has already had three or four repairs in as many summers is telling you something. We will lay out both paths with what each one buys you, and you decide.

How long does a central AC installation take?
Most standard changeouts take one day. Attic air handlers, difficult access, or duct and electrical work can push it into a second day. We tell you the expected timeline before we start.
Do I have to replace the indoor coil too?
Yes, in almost every case. The outdoor unit and indoor coil are designed to work as a matched pair. Mixing an old coil with a new condenser causes poor cooling, high pressures and early failures.
Will a bigger system cool my house better?
Usually not. An oversized system short cycles, never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air, and leaves the house cold and clammy. Correct sizing based on your actual home matters more than raw capacity.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.
- Step 3
You approve the repair
We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
- Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
- We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
- Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
- All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
