What Electric Furnace Repair Involves
An electric furnace makes heat with resistance elements, called heat strips, and pushes it through your ducts with a blower. Repair work usually means finding which part of that chain broke. We test the elements one at a time, check the sequencers that bring them on in stages, and confirm the blower motor is moving the air the strips need to stay within safe limits. Airflow matters as much as the heat itself. A starved return or a clogged filter will trip a limit switch and shut the heat down over and over.
What We Check On The Call
We start at the thermostat and work back to the air handler, which in many homes in the region sits up in the attic. We read voltage and amp draw on each heat strip, inspect the contactors and sequencers for burnt contacts, and look at the limit switches and fuse links that protect the cabinet. We check the blower wheel for dust buildup, measure temperature rise across the coil, and look at return sizing, since undersized returns are common in older subdivisions. Wiring, terminal blocks and the disconnect all get a look.
How We Decide Repair Is The Right Call
We compare what failed against the condition of everything around it. One open heat strip or a stuck sequencer on an otherwise sound air handler is a straightforward repair, and we do it. When the blower motor, the control board and multiple strips are all failing on a cabinet that has been in service a long time, we tell you that plainly and lay out both paths. If a heat pump shares the air handler, we check whether the strips are running because the outdoor unit stopped carrying the load.

Why does my electric furnace blow cool air?
Usually the heat strips are not energizing while the blower still runs. A failed sequencer, an open element, a blown fuse link or a thermostat wiring fault will all do it. We test each stage to find which one.
Why does my breaker trip when the heat comes on?
Heat strips pull heavy current, so a shorted element, a damaged wire or a weak breaker will trip under load. Do not keep resetting it. Leave it off and call us so we can measure the circuit safely.
Can a dirty filter stop electric heat?
Yes. Restricted airflow lets heat build in the cabinet until a limit switch cuts the strips off, often cycling on and off. Change the filter and open closed vents. If it repeats, something else is limiting airflow.
