Top-rated independent heating and cooling across North Texas and the Metroplex

Smart Thermostat Installation

We install smart thermostats on residential heating and cooling systems across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, and we make sure the new control actually talks to your equipment before we leave. Homeowners usually call when the old thermostat is failing, when a self-installed smart model shows a wiring error, or when the system short cycles after a swap. Call us with your thermostat brand and, if you can see it, the model number on your indoor unit. We will confirm compatibility and set an appointment.

HVAC technician at work

What the job involves

We start at the equipment, not the wall. A technician checks what wires are present at the air handler or furnace and at the thermostat location, confirms whether a common wire exists, and verifies staging on your heating and cooling. Then we mount the new thermostat level, land the wiring, configure the equipment type in the setup menu, and run the system through cooling and heating to watch it respond. If a common wire is missing, we discuss options for adding one rather than guessing with an adapter.

What we check and install

We check control voltage, existing wire count and condition, heat pump versus straight cool and gas setup, auxiliary and emergency heat terminals, and whether the old thermostat was mis-configured all along. We install the smart thermostat you have bought or one we can source, add a common wire where the run allows, and set filter reminders and staging limits that suit your system. On homes with an attic air handler, we also confirm the safety switch and drain float are wired so the thermostat reflects a real shutdown.

How we decide it is the right call

A smart thermostat is a good fit when the equipment is healthy and you want better scheduling and remote control. It is the wrong fix when the real problem is low airflow, an undersized return, a failing capacitor or a refrigerant issue, because a new control will just report the same bad performance. We say so plainly. If your rooms swing several degrees or the system runs long without satisfying, we look at the system first and talk thermostats after.

Smart Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Do I need a common wire for a smart thermostat?

Most smart thermostats need steady 24 volt power, which usually means a common wire. Some models offer a power-sharing kit instead. We check what is in the wall first and tell you which route fits your system.

Can you install a thermostat I already bought?

Yes. Bring it out of the box and we will verify it matches your equipment type, including heat pump staging and auxiliary heat. If it is not compatible, we will explain why and suggest a model that is.

Will a smart thermostat work with a heat pump?

Most will, but setup matters. Heat pumps need correct reversing valve and auxiliary heat configuration, or the strip heat runs when it should not. We set those options and test both modes before finishing.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
  • Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
  • We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
  • Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
