Top-rated independent heating and cooling across North Texas and the Metroplex

High-Efficiency Upgrade

A high-efficiency furnace upgrade replaces an older, single-stage gas furnace with a modern condensing unit, and we do this work for homeowners across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Homeowners usually call when the old furnace is 15 or more years old, short-cycling, or heating some rooms and skipping others. The upgrade involves new venting, a condensate drain and often duct and return corrections. Call us and we will measure the house, look at your ductwork, and tell you plainly whether an upgrade makes sense or whether a heating repair is the better move this year.

What the job actually involves

A condensing furnace vents differently than the old one. Instead of pushing hot exhaust up a metal flue, it pulls so much heat out of the burn that the exhaust leaves through PVC pipe out a sidewall, and it produces water that has to drain. So the work includes new venting, a condensate line with a safe route, gas line sizing checks and electrical for the variable-speed blower. If the furnace sits in an attic, we also look at platform, access and secondary drain protection before anything gets set.

What we check and install

We start with a load calculation rather than matching the BTU number on the old cabinet, because plenty of furnaces in 90s subdivisions were oversized from day one. Then we measure return air. An undersized return will choke a new blower and undo the efficiency you paid for. Installation covers the furnace, new venting, condensate handling, a matched blower and coil setup, a thermostat that can run the staging properly, and sealing at the plenum connections so conditioned air stays in the ducts.

How we decide it is the right call

We look at age, repair history, part availability and how the house actually feels. If a furnace is 12 years old with a cracked heat exchanger, replacement is the honest answer. If it is eight years old with a bad igniter, we fix it. We also check whether the duct system can carry more airflow, because upgrading equipment attached to poor ducts wastes money. Our recommendation includes the venting and drainage work involved, so there are no surprises once the old unit comes out.

High-Efficiency Upgrade — quick answers

Do I need new venting for a high-efficiency furnace?

Almost always, yes. Condensing furnaces vent through PVC pipe out a sidewall or roof rather than the old metal flue. We plan the route, terminations and clearances as part of the installation.

Will a high-efficiency furnace fix cold rooms?

Sometimes, but cold rooms usually come from duct problems or undersized returns. We check airflow room by room and tell you what the ductwork needs before you spend money on new equipment.

Can the new furnace work with my existing AC?

Often yes, though the blower and coil need to be matched properly. If the outdoor unit is aging or hail-damaged, we will say so and let you decide on timing.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
  • Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
  • We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
  • Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
